It's my birthday presentsss, my precciousss

Among Todd's birthday gifts to me were tickets to see an old favorite singer/songwriter of ours, Mike Doughty who played at the Vic Theatre on March 20th. It's rather a sentimental gift because we strongly associate this performer with the first year of our marriage when he sang for a band we listened to fervently, Soul Coughing.

Some folks may think it's odd that we still enjoy concerts into our 30's, but it's been a sentimental part of our relationship since we began dating 15 years ago. I still have the "mix tapes" he lovingly made just for me when we were in college, and our first date was to see Cracker at a Metro show (well, we rode there together in the back of his friend's pickup truck, but still). It's very special to still share these moments together because they're ours and no one else's. Music is such a powerful memory medium. So you see, there is reason to our madness.
