Sunday of the Triumph of Orthodoxy
The first Sunday of Orthodox Lent is also the day when Orthodox celebrate the 8th c. restoration of icons in the East after the iconoclast controversy. The children bring icons of their patron saint to church and all parade in song "Who is so great a God as our God/Thou art the God who workest wonders" with the clergy around the sanctuary at the end of Liturgy. It is very moving to witness all the children represent centuries of Christianity as we enter the Lenten season.

In the evening a Chicago area pan-orthodox service is held in a different parish every year. There are dozens of cross-jurisdictional deacons, priests, bishops, and archbishops worshipping in unity and Todd had the honor of serving among them.
