New Year's Reunion

For New Year's we drove to Todd's boyhood town of Ludington, Michigan, where we were reunited with some of his best friends from high school, who also went to Trinity with us (all wisely married TIU gals). It was great fun to see Andy & Harmony (and their almost 3-yr-old Owen) back from their home in Belfast, Ireland. Dan & Kristin (our hosts) and their 3 great kids Malory, Christian, & Dominic came up from Cinci, OH. Ryan & Amy live in Wisconsin with their beautiful 2 girls Ella & Mila and 1 on the way.

Todd, Andy, Ryan, and Dan, as all Ludington folk, are extremely proud of their hometown. Todd has brought most of his friends and/or youth groups over the years for a visit to his favorite spots by the lighthouse, the state park, or the notorious Badger carferry he worked on for 5+ years (even I worked on it the 1st summer we were married).
Since I've known them, the guys always take a "flare" picture following the nice pose for the ladies. I think it's a Ludington thing. Hmm, I wonder which shot will the make the pic frame.

Ryan provided the funniest quote of the night. To his wife's inquiry whether they shouldn't be moving along at 1:30 in the morning, Ryan (looking at the bird clock) responds, "It's still 25 to the chickadee." When everyone laughed, the true Michigan boy said, "I know my birds."

Ryan & Amy's kids were such troopers. Mila stayed up till after 1! Though she looked like she could fall over at times.

The Todd family home is cozy and the snow makes everything so beautiful in Michigan.

Christian & Malory couldn't help sneaking outside to play in the snow.
Jamesport Brewing Co. is one of our favorite hangouts in Ludington.
Our drive home was slightly delayed due to a snowstorm, but thankfully Michigan drivers are the best! A little Sufjan and a great view kept us company.
